Kwamina Asomaning

Chief Executive | Stanbic Bank Ghana

Kwamina Asomaning currently serves as both the Chief Executive of Stanbic Bank Ghana and the President of the Ghana Association of Banks. Prior to these roles, he was the Executive Director of Corporate & Investment Banking at Stanbic Bank from 2010 to 2020.

Since his appointment as Chief Executive in December 2020, Mr. Asomaning has led transformative initiatives that have solidified Stanbic Bank’s position as a leading financial services institution in Ghana. Taking the helm during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, he has demonstrated remarkable resilience and strategic foresight, successfully guiding the bank through the complexities of the domestic debt exchange programme while maintaining strong performance.

Under his leadership, Stanbic Bank Ghana has earned recognition for its innovation, customer-centric approach, and commitment to sustainable banking practices. In 2024, the bank was named the Overall Best Bank in Ghana at the EMEA Finance African Banking Awards. It also ranked first in customer experience excellence in corporate banking for two consecutive years (2024 and 2025) and second in the retail banking sector by the KPMG West Africa Banking Industry Customer Experience Survey.

Before joining Stanbic Bank, Kwamina gained global experience with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Washington, D.C., during his MBA programme at the Wharton School University of Pennsylvania in 2003. After graduating in 2004, he joined JPMorgan Chase Bank in New York as an Associate in High Yield Credit Research. In 2006, he moved to the Leveraged Finance Division of Goldman Sachs & Co., where he was subsequently promoted to Vice President.

In addition to his executive roles, Mr. Asomaning serves as a Non-Executive Director for Stanbic Bank Ghana Ltd, Stanbic Investment Management Services, Stanbic Bank Holdings, and SBG Securities. He is also a board member of the Ghana Interbank Payments and Settlement Systems Limited (GhIPSS).
