Alan has more than 25 years of audit and advisory experience. He currently serves as Head of KPMG Private Enterprise – Africa and South Africa and the Managing Partner of the Port Elizabeth office. He is also a member of both the KPMG EMA Private Enterprise and Family Business Steering groups He serves as lead relationship partner on a number of clients to help manage their risks.
Alan responsibilities include overseeing KPMG’s Private Enterprise focus across Africa which is a focus on private companies, especially family controlled entities as well as KPMG’s Audit and growth activities in the Eastern Cape, across the key sectors of focus. His delivery focus has includes audits in various frameworks (IFRS, IFRS for SMEs, US GAAP, Sox 404), other assurance type of engagements and family business consulting on governance, succession, risk management etc. Alan’s clients include multi-national and South African public and privately held companies in the Automotive and Industrial sector(Automotive Manufacturers (OEMs), Automotive component manufacturers, dealerships); Agricultural sector, Pharmaceutical and Food and Drinks sector; Family Businesses across South Africa and Universities. Serves as lead relationship partner on key multi-national tax and advisory clients. Services provided to these clients include Tax services, IT related services, Performance improvement projects, due diligences.

Hosted five national KPMG Family Business Conferences in South Africa. Produced three African Family Business Barometers (2016, 2018 and 2020). Speaker at a variety of external events. Facilitating family business workshops at Africa CEO Forum. Non-executive board director at Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber for 8 years. Recipient of the Nelson Mandela University Alumni Rising Star Award in 2013. NMB Business Chamber Top 40 under 40 in 2011.
