Akinwole is a strategic & innovative thinker with board-based expertise in infrastructural project development, business management, financial economics and strategic leadership in gas & power sectors, where he has demonstrated proven track records spanning several countries.

With over 20 years’ experience in the energy sector, Akinwole has led various executive teams in restructuring, financing and implementing several innovative and commercially sound projects including solar PV plus battery storage, small hydro and energy efficiency projects of small-scale LNG & LPG-fired power projects to displace the more expensive and environmentally unfriendly diesel oil to several customers in Benin, Democratic Republic of Congo, Mali, Nigeria, Rwanda and Zimbabwe.

At the recent COP28, Akinwole led GENESIS to close the deal of one of the most significant MOU signed for the company and Africa with USAID, ensuring the strategic funding of 10 billion dollars over the next five years to develop renewable energy projects in the Global South, acommitment that echoes to GENESIS and its mission.

Akinwole is an Expert Advisor at the Oxford University’s SAID Business School. He continues to serve as an Advisory Board Member for various institutions including: The Global Thinkers Forum (UK), African Energy Chamber (South Africa), and previously on SHELL Foundation (UK) where they were tasked with advising on the creation of “the energy company of the future”.
