Claver Gatete

Under Secretary-General and Executive Secretary | United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (ECA) 

Claver Gatete is the 10th Executive Secretary of ECA. Prior to this, he held several ministerial portfolios in Rwanda, including Finance and Infrastructure, served as Governor of the National Bank, and as Ambassador to the United Nations, UK, Ireland and Iceland. He has led Presidential initiatives and served on boards and advisory councils. 

Gatete is a seasoned economist with acclaimed recognition on Africa’s development issues. He was awarded Finance Minister of the Year in 2015 by African Bankers Awards and in 2016 by Global Capital.
