Dr. Alaa Murabit
Executive Director, Sustainable Growth | 500 Global
Dr. Alaa Murabit is a medical doctor, strategist, and movement builder dedicated to investing in people, mobilizing capital for impact, and designing solutions that drive systemic change. Her work has shaped policies in 193 countries, influenced UN Security Council resolutions, and mobilized over $25 billion in health, sustainability, and security financing—directly impacting the lives of billions by expanding healthcare access, advancing gender equity, and strengthening global security frameworks.
At just 21, amid civil war, Dr. Murabit founded Voice of Libyan Women, sparking a movement that redefined security and gender policy. She has since led Phase Minus 1, served as CEO of IMPACT2030, and directed a $350M global portfolio at the Gates Foundation, advancing maternal and child health, climate and health security, and breakthrough innovations in global health. Her initiatives have led to tangible, life-saving changes, ensuring millions have access to quality healthcare, economic opportunity, and security protections.
A UN High-Level Commissioner and Senior External Advisor at Bain & Co., she works alongside governments, Fortune 500 companies, and multilateral institutions—turning strategy into impact, policy into practice, and ideas into action. Her mission is to ensure inclusive security, community-driven response, sustainable development, and equitable economic opportunity are not just ideals, but realities that define the future for generations to come.
Dr. Murabit’s contributions have earned her global recognition, including TIME100, Forbes 30 Under 30, MIT Fellow, WEF Young Global Leader, Harvard Radcliffe Fellow, and the Canadian Meritorious Service Cross. Featured by CNN, TIME, NPR, NYT, BBC, and Forbes, she is a sought-after keynote speaker, having delivered powerful talks at TED, WEF, the UN, Apple, and Harvard—inspiring millions worldwide.
She holds an MSc in International Strategy and Diplomacy from LSE and an MD from Zawia University. However, her earliest lessons in diplomacy, negotiation, and resilience came from growing up as the middle child of 11—an upbringing that prepared her for navigating complex global challenges long before boardrooms and policy summits. Today, those same skills serve her well as a snack negotiator and bedtime peace broker with her two toddlers.
