Amadou Hott
Former Senegalese Minister of Economy; Chair, Africa Advisory Board | Vision Invest
Amadou Hott has served as Chair of the Africa Advisory Board at Vision Invest, Saudi Arabia, since August 2025. He was a candidate for the Presidency of the African Development Bank in 2025. A seasoned executive with over 25 years of experience in economic policy, development finance, and investment banking, he holds degrees in applied mathematics, economics, and financial markets.
As Senegal's Minister of Economy, Planning and Cooperation (2019-2022), Hott maintained the country's economic stability during the COVID-19 pandemic and successfully reformed the public-private partnership framework. He also served as Sherpa for the President of Senegal at the Paris Summit on financing African economies and was governor of several multilateral and regional development banks.
Previously, Hott was the inaugural Vice President of the African Development Bank's Power, Energy, Climate Change and Green Growth Complex (2016-2019) and founding CEO of FONSIS, Senegal's sovereign wealth fund. Until September 2024, he served as Special Envoy of the President of the African Development Bank for the Alliance for Green Infrastructure in Africa, working to catalyze private financing for green infrastructure projects.
His diverse career spans government, development banking, and investment banking across America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He is recognized for his leadership and expertise in economic development, climate finance, energy, and infrastructure investments. The World Economic Forum nominated him as a Young Global Leader in 2012. He is fluent in English, French, Fulani, and Wolof.
