Alice Usanase specialises in resource mobilisation, business development, corporate strategy design & implementation, across emerging markets.
Alice leads Africa Finance Corporation (AFC)’s government affairs, capital raise program and partnerships with multilaterals in Europe, Middle East and Francophone Africa. When she joined the Corporation in 2016, she was initially the Chief of Staff/Special Assistant to the CEO for Corporate Strategy & Planning – designing strategies that have seen the Corporation grow from a US$4 billion balance sheet to US$10 billion in a period of 5 years. Under her leadership in the Country Relations and Capital Mobilisation Department, the Corporation has doubled its country members (currently at 43 Member States) – expanding from West Africa to a pan-African representation while designing innovative structures to attract sovereign entities, institutional investors, and non-regional investors in the capital of AFC – efforts that have seen the Corporation raising more than US$1.1BN and expanded investor diversification to non-regional, investment grades shareholders, multilaterals, pensions funds, and sovereign wealth funds shareholders.
Prior to joining AFC, Alice was a Project Manager at the World Bank Group, where she focused on implementing regional industrialisation and export policy programs, such as the Great Lakes Trade Facilitation Program in Kenya, Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Rwanda. She was also in charge of coordinating the implementation of the Governance for Competitiveness (G4C) Program across five ministries and central banks.
Alice graduated with honors with a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from the Brussels Business School and also holds a BA with honors in International Trade from Ecole Pratiques des Hautes Commerciales in Brussels, Belgium.
