Navigating Africa’s Current Foreign Exchange Landscape

  • The Law Society 113 Chancery Lane London, England, WC2A 1PL United Kingdom (map)

Currency sourcing often stands as a significant hurdle to Africa's developmental potential. With the continent hosting 41 different currencies, many of which are illiquid, globally under traded, and prone to volatility, international businesses and investors face obstacles when it comes to cross-border payments.

To tackle these challenges, collaboration with local African banks is imperative, enhancing compliance procedures to align with international standards. Technological advancements in FX trading are paving the way for solutions, offering access to a broader spectrum of currency pairs and real-time market data. This, in turn, enhances liquidity and competitiveness within local currency markets.

Invest Africa, in partnership with Crown Agents Bank, hosted a moderated roundtable discussion focused on Africa's current foreign exchange landscape, and will explore potential partnership and collaboration opportunities within the field to foster innovative solutions.
